Health Policy:

Good health practices are very important to our program. Frequent hand washing, sanitization of surface areas, care of clothing, rest periods and other health-based practices are regular daily procedures in our program.If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, please do not send them to school.
  • A fever

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • A rash
|_|
  • Injury
Should any of these symptoms develop while your child is at school you will be contacted and asked to pick up your child. While awaiting your arrival your child will be placed in a separate area where he or she will be comfortably cared for and supervised until taken home.A child must be fever free for twenty-four hours before returning to school. Additional restrictions may apply depending on the illness and recommended policies associated with that illness.Please let the school know if your child is ill and inform us if your child is diagnosed with a contagious disease.No matter how careful we are, accidents do and will happen. It is our responsibility to ensure your children are safe and we will check the program constantly to ensure this safe environment.

In the event of an injury or illness; Staff will assess the injury

  • if injury is minimal -  first-aid will be given and an accident report completed
  • if injury is minor -  first-aid will be given and parents may be called to collect the child
  • if the injury is serious -  staff trained in first-aide will attend to the child --> medical assistance/ambulance will be called --> one staff member will accompany the child in the ambulance --> families or emergency contacts will be notified  -->accident report will be completed

Administering Medicine:
Staff will only administer medication if a parent or guardian has signed a permission slip to do so. A medication form must be filled out and given to the office and head teacher. Please make sure to not leave medication in your child’s locker or backpack.
